Sturgeon River is a nice whitewater spot right next door to Hop Lake, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn is a splendid spot to spend a night or two. If you get bored of Hop Lake, you could also stop at close by Skip Lake; Linda Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. From a rain point of view Hop Lake is a relatively common spot; the month with most of the rain is August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

| | Summertime highs at Hop Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Hop Lake temperatures dip to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Lake Ste. Kathryn Campground while you're here at Hop Lake, and in the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Perch River. A fine | |
