The beauty of Hillman Lake is reason enough to stop by. The skiing at Bittersweet is tremendous. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Hillman Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp Kaskitowa. This lake is so wonderful. Budget Host Sunset Motel is a brilliant place to get some rest; a beautiful lake like Buell Lake is a great place to have a look at. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a brilliant location to spend a night or two; you'll locate a charming lake called Base Line Lake. But wait, there's more to do close to Hillman Lake. Shamrock Hills Golf Club is a good golf course close by. There's so much to do here at Hillman Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fireside Campground is a good location | |

During the months of summer here at Hillman Lake, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the duration of
the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 20's; night lows throughout the winter for Hillman Lake tend to be in the 10's. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Timber Ridge is near Hillman Lake, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Allegan here.

Timber Ridge
 | It is not very big, but all of the employees are cool and you never have to wait in line to get on the lift. They sometimes seem to overestimate the amount of snow that they have also. I sometimes wonder if they actually measure the snowpiles that have been plowed in the parking lot instead of what is actually on the hill.... |
Bittersweet
| Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area.... |

Can the general public access the lake or is it private for Greenspire residents?...Hampton lake is a public lake in Portage south of Centre street, about a 1/3 of a mile east of US 131. It does not have a public access, I'm not even sure gas powered boats are allowed, but they're not needed because the lake is not very big. But it is spring fed and DNR stocked so it is very clean and very good fishing. I live in Greenspire Apartments which is partially on the lake and my roommate and I fish Hampton lake often. Row boats are available to rent in the office. ... |

Swiss Valley is a great place to ski or snowboard, dedicated to keeping the terrain interesting and excellently groomed. Snowmaking and deicated staff also provide the best kept terrain parks in southwest Michigan. The facilities offer a full service restaurant with food, spirits and live enteratinment most weekends, a cafeteria, group gathering areas and a separate learning area.
Swiss Valley also has very affordable learn to ski and snowboard programs for the entire family....
