Summer brings highs in the 80's to Hess Lake, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Hess Lake temperatures drop to the 0's. Good hiking is available along the Hungerford       Cross Country Ski Trail; camping is available at Leisure Time RV Park. Hess Lake is not the only spot close by, Brooks Lake is a close by lake, and Briar Hill Golf Course is a fine golf course nearby. Hess Lake gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is September while February is generally the driest month. What a site this is for outdoors people. Don't leave Hess Lake without first going for a hike along the Newaygo                  County Snowmobile Trail, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Grand Rapids North is a good place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful.
