While you're here at Heron Lake you can take a hike along the Alligator Eye Trail, and there's whitewater on Planter Creek for all you adrenaline people. Heron Lake is a beautiful lake in the Gogebic Range. This is a perfect area for people who like lakes. Bluejay Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and camping is available at Presque Isle Campground. So much enjoyable stuff to do       in the Gogebic Range, not enough time. High temperatures at Heron Lake throughout the summertime are in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are regularly in the 10's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Heron Lake. Camping at Henry Lake Campground is always a good experience, and why not head up to Indianhead and strap some skis to your feet. This place, the Gogebic Range, has so                  much outdoors amusing things. Nearby lakes? Sure, Heron Lake is close to Heron Lake, and a day on the slopes of Big Powderhorn Mountain is just what you need. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Presque Isle, and don't forget to take a tremendous little tour to Osprey Creek.
