Hartman Creek is a good local stream, and there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Big Island Lake Portage Canoe Trail. You'll locate a wonderful lake called Lake Thirteen near Halfway Lake; camping at Woodstar Beach Campground is always a splendid experience. This lake is so wonderful. Halfway Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Portage Bay State Campground is       a fine local campground, and Comfort Inn Manistique is a nice place to get some rest. A magnificent nearby hotel is Budget Host Inn Manistique, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Haywire Grade ORV Trail. This site is peerless, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do right next door to Halfway Lake. Halfway Lake gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and the driest                  of the months is February. High temperatures at Halfway Lake during the summer months are in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's.
