     Ocqueoc River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Ess Lake is a glorious lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. Lyons Landing & Travel Trailer is a glorious local campground, and there are other places here than Grass Lake, for example Cranberry Lake. Grass Lake gets a common amount of rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
All through the days of summer, highs typically are in
 
   the 80's at Grass Lake. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. All through the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Grass Lake are in the 0's. I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot....
