Sure, Basswood Pond is nearby, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Kentuck-Spectacle Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Tepee Lake Campground and Picnic Area is always a nice experience, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Anvil Lake Trail System. Be careful coming to Golden Lake, you might not ever want to return home again. Ski Brule is a perfect local ski area, and James Lake is a great lake close       by. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Wild Eagle Lodge. Golden Lake is a good place of common rain; most of the rain falls through August, and the driest of the months is February. A good place for whitewater paddling near Golden Lake is Ontonagon River - Middle Branch; on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Kimball Creek Trail. After a long day outdoors Americinn - Iron River, Mi is a brilliant spot to spend a night or two,                  and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Brule Mountain is quite near. If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pine River, and a good location to camp here at Golden Lake is Kentuck Lake Campground. During the summertime months at Golden Lake highs are usually in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's.
