There's so much to do here at Foxpaw Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Presque Isle Campground is a fine place for that, and hey, Gotta ski right? Indianhead is a good location to do that. From a precipitation point of view Foxpaw Lake is a reasonably common spot; through June this area sees the most rain; the driest month is February. Moraine Creek is a brilliant local stream; beautiful scenery and great skiing is what you acquire at Big Powderhorn Mountain. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Gogebic Range. Twin Pups Lakes is a nearby lake that you could stop at. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Foxpaw Lake has to offer, you can camp at Henry Lake Campground. | |

Just can't get enough of the Gogebic Range. Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Planter Creek. This lake is one of the great places here in the Gogebic Range. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Foxpaw Lake, you
could also stop at delightful Osprey Lake, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Presque Isle. For the duration of the summer here at Foxpaw Lake, high temperatures frequently
get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Foxpaw Lake temperatures fall to the-10's.

Armour Lake
 | My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
