Foster Lake is not the only site nearby, Pike Lake is a nearby lake; Foster Lake is not far at all from Allegan. If you come at the right time of year, Kalamazoo River offers some glorious whitewater. The amount of precipitation that falls at Foster Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is usually September, that's the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest.  | It is not very big, but all of the employees are cool and you never have to wait in line to get on the lift. They sometimes seem to overestimate the amount of snow that they have also. I sometimes wonder if they actually measure the snowpiles that have been plowed in the parking lot instead of what is actually on the hill.... |

Bittersweet
| Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area.... |

Swiss Valley is a great place to ski or snowboard, dedicated to keeping the terrain interesting and excellently groomed. Snowmaking and deicated staff also provide the best kept terrain parks in southwest Michigan. The facilities offer a full service restaurant with food, spirits and live enteratinment most weekends, a cafeteria, group gathering areas and a separate learning area.
Swiss Valley also has very affordable learn to ski and snowboard programs for the entire family....
