Lake Fifteen is always a pleasure to visit. Get your heart pumping on the pleasant whitewater of Brule River; there are perfect places to discover along the Lauterman Trail. This is a good area for folks who like lakes. Lake Sixteen is a lake close at hand, and Lake Fifteen is great enough to spend more than a day at, Iron River Koa Kampground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Paint River, and a brilliant site to camp here at Lake Fifteen is Iron County Pentoga Park. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Lake Fifteen; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Through the months of summer at Lake Fifteen temperatures are typically in
the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are usually in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Lake Fifteen. Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn is a delightful site to get some rest.

...0’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.
The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English.
