If you are in Gogebic county it's always a good idea to stop by Elbow Lake. The Gogebic Range scenery is always beautiful. A common amount of rain falls here at Elbow Lake; the wettest month of the year is regularly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. so much to do here at Elbow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Presque Isle Campground is a good spot for that. If you need a site to stay Comfort Inn Minocqua is a glorious choice. You'll need more than a day to explore
everything Elbow Lake has to offer, you can camp at Henry Lake Campground. That right there is a heap of cool things already but it goes on, the Gogebic Range has it all. This is a glorious region for people who like lakes. Henry Lake is a lake in the vicinity; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Indianhead is quite near.

Armour Lake
 | My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
