Take a side journey to Holly Creek, and there are some good whitewater spots on Presque Isle. Summertime highs at Down Lake typically tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Down Lake. Down Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; August       is the wettest month with most rain; February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There is a glorious hiking trail in close proximity to Down Lake called the Alligator Eye Trail, and if you need a place to stay Black Bear Lodge is a good choice. If you go for the outdoors, you'll go for Down Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Ontonagon River; camping at Moosehead Lake Campground is always a fine                  experience. This is a perfect vicinity for people who like lakes.
