Take a hike on the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail, and Econo Lodge Cadillac is a wonderful location to get some rest. Yeah, come here to Deer Lake for a splendid time. Deer Lake is not the only place nearby, Little Sherwood Lake is a nearby lake; a splendid close by hotel is Rodeway Inn Cadillac. Summertime highs at Deer Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's. A magnificent place to camp here at Deer Lake is Hammarstead Lake Camp Ground, and you're sure to encounter some nice people from Cadillac here. This lake is so wonderful. A great spot for whitewater paddling near Deer Lake is Pine River, unsurprisingly you could also have a look at Eggleston Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. We had picked the pine river to canoe in the summer of 2004 and were told a good rustic campground would be a good choice. As it turned out it was by far the best camp site I had ever stayed in and had a great time. Our site happened to be next to the river with a great view, secluded and close to the river. I would highly recommend this campground for access to the pine river. Great canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. swimming... |

Actually, the best paddling on the Pine River is below Lincoln, and especially in the section from Dobson Bridge to Low Bridge (approximately 21 miles). there are numerous CI rapids from about 20 minutes US from Dobson to about 20 minutes US from Low Bridge. Unfortunately, due to livery traffic the river is kept cleared to excess. Most of the leaning trees and logjams that make padding interesting have been removed so the drunken rental boat paddlers don't get into trouble.... |
