     If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Slate River; unsurprisingly, this is a wonderful area for people who like lakes, Van Lake is a lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. You're most likely addicted to lakes, Teddy Lake is one of those nearby, and some nearby water includes Canal Town Creek. For the period of the months of summer at Deer Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. When the night sets in  
   temperatures dip down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Deer Lake temperatures descend to the 0's. Deer Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; September is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
A delightful location to camp here at Deer Lake is Michigamme Shores Campground, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Peshekee River. A great nearby hotel is Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn.

Craig Lake
This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat....

I have loved the Peshekee for over 63 years, watching rocks appear and disappear with the seasons. It's a special day when kayakers also appear, usually in early spring. I'm afraid the time for good kayaking is over for this year. Sorry! By the way, there are plenty of good motels in Marquette. ...
