If you are in Alger county it's always a good idea to stop by Deer Lake. You're possibly addicted to lakes, Spirit Lake is one of those nearby, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Au Train River. The Valley Spur Ski Trail offers hiking at its best, and you can stay the night at Laughing Whitefish Campground. This lake is so wonderful.
This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Bay House, and great hiking is available along the Chatham Ski Trail.

| | Just can't get enough of Deer Lake. Silver Falls is a pretty place to check out while you're at Deer Lake, and while you're here, do take a trip to Shelter Bay. If you come at the right time of year, Chocolay River offers some great whitewater, and there's nice hiking along the Addis Lakes Ski Trail.
