You're probably addicted to lakes, Shamrock Lake is one of those nearby, and people from Alpena love to come here. All through the summertime months at Lake David highs are usually in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Lake David dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. | | to say, this is a nice area for people who like lakes, Island Lake is a lake in the neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful. Lake David is good enough to spend more than a day at, Lyons Landing & Travel Trailer is a good local campground.
The annual rain here at Lake David is about average; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is February. | |

Island Lake
 | I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot.... |

I was just at Cranberry Lake on July 7, 2007. It was beautiful. I went fishing and caught many fish. I also went jet sking, paddle-boating, on a pontoon boat and fished off the dock. The view was amaizing, espcially the sunset. I loved it here and can't wait to come back.... |
