A visit to Cucumber Lake is always a good idea. Coonskin Creek is a glorious local stream; on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Newaygo County Snowmobile Trail. Why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Briar Hill Golf Course, and the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Cucumber Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Parks and Recreation Dept is a wonderful place for that, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Big Rapids, Mi is a pleasant choice. Cucumber Lake gets a common amount of rain; August is the wettest month with most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month.

...n River departing from Croton Dam. Accepting reservations for 2009 equipment rentals beginning May 1, 2009. Reservations highly recommended as we offer the lowest rates on the Muskegon River in the Newaygo Area for your river adventures.
Rustic Camping also available on a limited basis. As of April 15, 2009 we have two seasonal electric sites available for rent this season. Rate is $700. 00 for the year. Our camping rates nightly are $12. 00 for non-power sites and $15. 00 for electrical sites. No running water/hand pump. No dump station. Outhouses and porta- potties in the busy summer season.
Excellent smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing on the backwaters to Croton Dam and also north about 5 miles on the backwaters of Hardy Dam. Spring steelhead runs, rainbow & german brown trout, and fall salmon runs down on the river itself below the dam.
We do not offer river services for the Little Muskegon River.
