     Lower Tomahawk Lake is a perfect lake near Cranberry Lake, and Lyons Landing & Travel Trailer is a delightful campground nearby. High temperatures at Cranberry Lake all through the summertime are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Cranberry Lake. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Cranberry Lake; of all the months in a year September is the one  
   with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Ocqueoc River. Lakes? Sure, Grass Lake is in the neighborhood. You're sure to encounter some nice folks from Alpena here, and if you came for an overnight stay Thunder Bay Resort is a good spot to camp.

I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot....
