You'll need more than a day to discover everything Cowboy Lake has to offer, you can camp at Rivers Bend Campground; pleasant water scenery is available at Henry Ford Dam near Cowboy Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the glorious skiing at Norway Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. If you're a golfer then a good close by course is Eagle Mountain Golf Course, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then,

| | we recommend Pine River. There are some fine whitewater spots on Brule River; Cowboy Lake is not the only place nearby, Ellwood Lake is a nearby lake.
Budget Host Inn Iron Mountain is a glorious place to get some rest; Cowboy Lake is not far at all from Iron Mountain. If you get bored of Cowboy Lake, you could also stop by nearby Frog Lake, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Little Popple River. A common amount of rainfall falls here at | |

MOUNTAIN is a good choice. There's so much to do here at Cowboy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Iron Mountain Campgrounds is a tremendous location for that. For the duration of the warm months at Cowboy Lake highs are
typically in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Cowboy Lake.

Paint River

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
