An average amount of rainfall falls at Coontail Lake; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Lake Ste. Kathryn Campground is a perfect campground here, and Coontail Lake is right by the Pelkie Creek Hunter Walking Trails. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Perch Lake Campground is a wonderful       place to camp, and float down the rapids of Sturgeon River in a kayak. If you need a place to stay Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn is a glorious choice, and why not head up to Ski Brule and strap some skis to your feet. What a place this is for outdoors folks. A tremendous nearby hotel is Iron Inn Motel. At Coontail Lake through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the period of                  the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Coontail Lake.
