Paddling on Sturgeon River is so much fun, and Sauna Creek is next to Coontail Lake and is always a diversion to stop at. A typical amount of rain falls here at Coontail Lake; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. There is a great hiking trail right next door to Coontail Lake called the Pelkie       Creek Hunter Walking Trails, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Brule Mountain while you're here. Nearby lakes? Sure, May Lake is near Coontail Lake, and why not camp at Perch Lake Campground since you're here at Coontail Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
