If you are in Livingston county it's always a good idea to stop by Cook Lake. You'll meet a lot of folks from Owosso here. There's so much to do here at Cook Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Nazarene Campground is a magnificent location for that. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Taylor's Beach Campground is a perfect site to do that, and after a long day outdoors Baymont Inn & Suites Howell is a fine place to spend a night or two. The

Lake Cohoctah is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Red Cedar River. then a good nearby course is DAMA Golf Club; dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites HOWELL. Summertime at Cook Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures
fall down into the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Cook Lake.

Bruin Lake
 | 13 miles away First visit was a pleasant one. Boat launch is real shallow, I have a Glastron SX 175 v hull and had difficulty getting boat to clear trailer without backing tow vehicle farther into lake than usual. From there, things just got better. The water is pleasantly clean, but very shallow on the north side. However, the channels connecting Bruin to the other lakes are great. We spent all day on the water. Blind lake is a beautiful little lake with several sand bars, a swimming platform and a couple of rope swings for the kids to get out of the boat and play on. Overall, we were very pleased with the fact that we chose Bruin rather that our normal haunt Portage.... |
