At Chicagon Lake you always meet someone from Iron Mountain, and a quick journey to Wagner Creek is certainly a magnificent idea. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Lauterman Trail, and Iron River Koa Kampground is a brilliant local campground. High temperatures at Chicagon Lake during the summer are in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Chicagon

Paddling on Paint River is so much fun, and Brule Mountain has great slopes and a friendly staff. Minnie Lake is a lake that's right next door to Chicagon Lake, and why not camp at Iron County Pentoga Park since you're here at Chicagon Lake.

The original emigrant settlers of the area during the middle 1800’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.
The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
