If you are in Wexford county it's always a good idea to stop by Carpenter Lake. There's pleasant hiking along the McKenzie Ski Trail, and people from Traverse City love to come here. Lake tend to be in the 10's. Camping is available at Traverse City Koa; the Lincoln Mills Snowmobile Trail offers hiking at its best.
This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Pine River offers some great whitewater; glorious hiking is available along the Caberfae Way Snowmobile Trail.
