You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Bittersweet; get your heart beating on the fine whitewater of Kalamazoo River. Through the warmest time of the year at Butterfield Lake highs are frequently in the 80's while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are typically in the 30's; through the dark hours in the winter at Butterfield Lake temperatures drop to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Gull Lake View Golf

Can the general public access the lake or is it private for Greenspire residents?...Hampton lake is a public lake in Portage south of Centre street, about a 1/3 of a mile east of US 131. It does not have a public access, I'm not even sure gas powered boats are allowed, but they're not needed because the lake is not very big. But it is spring fed and DNR stocked so it is very clean and very good fishing. I live in Greenspire Apartments which is partially on the lake and my roommate and I fish Hampton lake often. Bittersweet

Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area.... |
