Cook and White Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit; you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Cannonsburg if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Butler Lake, you could also stop by beautiful Harwell Lake; a good place to camp here at Butler Lake is Croton Township Campground. The yearly rain here at Butler Lake is about average; September is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is February. The Newaygo

Croton Dam Float Trips
 | 1 PHOTO ...River departing from Croton Dam. Accepting reservations for 2009 equipment rentals beginning May 1, 2009. Reservations highly recommended as we offer the lowest rates on the Muskegon River in the Newaygo Area for your river adventures.
Rustic Camping also available on a limited basis. As of April 15, 2009 we have two seasonal electric sites available for rent this season. Rate is $700. 00 for the year. Our camping rates nightly are $12. 00 for non-power sites and $15. 00 for electrical sites. No running water/hand pump. No dump station. Outhouses and porta- potties in the busy summer season.
Excellent smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing on the backwaters to Croton Dam and also north about 5 miles on the backwaters of Hardy Dam. Spring steelhead runs, rainbow & german brown trout, and fall salmon runs down on the river itself below the dam.
We do not offer river services for the Little Muskegon River.
