The smiling people of Iron Mountain like to hang out close by; camping at Silver Lake Resort is always a good experience. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Lily Lake; a good location for whitewater paddling is Michigamme River. At Boys Lake during the summertime months highs are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. Through the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's with

This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat.... |
