If you are in this part of Michigan make sure to pay a visit to Blacksmith Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at White River Roughing Area Campground, and needless to say, this is a great area for folks who like lakes, Trout Lake is a lake in the neighborhood. An average amount of rainfall falls at Blacksmith Lake; the wettest month of the year is generally August, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. Blacksmith

Blacksmith Lake, and you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail. Through the warmest time of the year at Blacksmith Lake highs are frequently in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures
drop down into the 50's. During the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and night lows at Blacksmith Lake through the winter mostly sink into the 10's.
This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. Hiking along the Newaygo County Snowmobile Trail is perfect fun.

Rustic Camping also available on a limited basis. As of April 15, 2009 we have two seasonal electric sites available for rent this season. Rate is $700. 00 for the year. Our camping rates nightly are $12. 00 for non-power sites and $15. 00 for electrical sites. No running water/hand pump. No dump station. Outhouses and porta- potties in the busy summer season.
Excellent smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing on the backwaters to Croton Dam and also north about 5 miles on the backwaters of Hardy Dam. Spring steelhead runs, rainbow & german brown trout, and fall salmon runs down on the river itself below the dam.
We do not offer river services for the Little Muskegon River.
