Why not camp at Silver Lake Resort while you're here at Berch Lake, and you're sure to encounter some nice people from Iron Mountain here. Berch Lake gets a common amount of precipitation; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Lily Lake, and of course, this is a delightful area for folks

Michigamme Shores Campground is a great local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Michigamme River. Through the warm days of summer at Berch Lake temperatures are mostly in the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Berch Lake. | |

This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat.... |
