     This is a fine neighborhood for people who like lakes. Beaver Lake Flooding is a lake close at hand, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn West Branch is a perfect site to spend a night or two. While you're here at Beaver Lake you can play some golf at Birch Pointe Golf Club, and do take a hike on the Sterling Truck Trail. For the duration of the days of summer at Beaver Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures  
   drop down into the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Beaver Lake. Beaver Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Beaver Trail Campground is a delightful local campground, and Super 8 West Branch is a delightful site to get some rest.
This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Skyline Ski Slide has great slopes and a friendly staff; Beaver Lake
 
               is right by the Mosquito Alley Truck Trail. The Lame Duck Truck Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Beaver Trails Campground is always a delightful experience, and most likely you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Carter Lake is just a very short distance away.
Beaver Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.

Beaver Trail Campground is located in beautiful Ogemaw County. Close to ATV and Snowmobile trails that run through the hills, inland lakes to fish from, many great golf courses, Tanger Outlet Mall, and downtown West Branch for a unique shopping experience.
31 large sites including 8 Rustic, a Group Rustic, 10 Electric and 10 Water and Electric sites. The large pond is good for swimming and fishing. Other things are a playground, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball hoops and boat rental.

Elni Lake
...uch of the reason for that is that the bottom is very shallow (can freeze to the bottom and kill major populations of fish). Near the swamp, it is sometimes only inches deep and most boats cannot navigate ''the cove'' in the NE corner of the lake. The bottom appears to have a loose mud texture and is, therefore, easily disturbed. But, there is more to that story...

It is a fun lake for story-telling because it has as its bottom several feet of sawdust, which when merged with the natural sand and dirt compounds finds itself much like quicksand. At the top of that bottom layer (sawdust, mostly) is the volatile, easily disturbed, mystery muck. Hence, there isn't a beach on Elni. If you wonder about the veracity of my ''quicksand'' reference, take a good, thick stick (we used young poplars stripped of leaves, etc., to push our raft around the lake) and stick it into the bottom (a little off shore, since the very edges of the lake are sandy). You may push it down several feet and never touch bottom. When you pull the stick out, you'll see where the quicksand reference comes from. I...

I spend most of my summer weekends at ostc and its a great area for any kind of orv use. They have modern showers, toilets, and electrical and water hookup on each site! then theres the motocross track (theres three of varying difficulties, mini, intermediate,and the big track) which is well groomed, as well as the private trail system on 175 acres.
