Ski Brule is a tremendous site to do that, and you can stay the night at Tepee Lake Campground and Picnic Area. The amount of rainfall that falls at Basswood Pond is close to the national average; during August this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. A fine nearby hotel is Wild Eagle Lodge. At Basswood Pond during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down       it drops down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 10's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Basswood Pond temperatures sink to the 0's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you come at the right time of year, Ontonagon River - Middle Branch offers some good whitewater; everybody close by loves skiing at Brule Mountain. There's so much to do here at Basswood Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Paint River Forks Campground                  is a good site for that, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Kentuck-Spectacle Lake Trail. You could also pop by Golden Lake if you're here at Basswood Pond; it's nearby, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Kimball Creek Trail. If you need a place to stay Americinn - Iron River, Mi is a perfect choice, and close by you find the Anvil Lake Trail System which is a good hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful.
