There's a good forest in the vicinity of Basford Lake called Manistee National Forest, and after a long day outdoors Ramada Inn & Convention Center Ludington Mi is a tremendous place to spend a night or two. Through the warmest time of the year, highs regularly are in the 80's at Basford Lake. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and       nighttime lows through the winter for Basford Lake tend to be in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is good here at Basford Lake, you can go for a hike along the Honeymoon Lake Snowmobile Trail, and Basford Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Big Star Trailer and RV Resort is a splendid local campground. Swamps don’t sound that pleasant but Star Marsh close to Basford Lake is reasonably pleasant, and camping at Pere Marquette                  Campground is always a tremendous experience. The North Country National Scenic Trail is a great hiking trail close to Basford Lake; there is a perfect hiking trail close by called the Ward Hills Snowmobile Trail. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at Basford Lake.
