    Go to Barrett Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Barrett Lake while nighttime lows are usually in the 50's. Through the winter the highs are typically in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter at Barrett Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. Barrett Lake gets a common amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; February is the month with the least moisture. You're  
   probably hooked on lakes, Cable Lake is one of those close by, and a glorious place to camp here at Barrett Lake is Black House Campground.
Looking for some flowing water? Try Mikes Creek, and why not camp at Iron River Koa Kampground if you're here at Barrett Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Porter Lake is in the vicinity of Barrett Lake; if you come at the right time of year, Brule River offers some delightful whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Have a great hiking

This lake is so wonderful. Ski Brule is a very popular ski area in the vicinity. Whoohoo! My local ski hill on the internet, WOW! What can I say, Brule's got straight runs and wiggly runs, hard ones and easy ones, but they're all lots of fun. I've been here more times than I can remember and I keep coming back for more and more, year after year....

...settlers of the area during the middle 1800’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.

The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
