Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Ontonagon River - Middle Branch; you can stay the night at Marion Lake Campground and Picnic Area. Tepee Lake Campground and Picnic Area is a wonderful campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Do go to Fisher Lake near Avaunt Pond, it's       a gorgeous lake, and the snow is great at Brule Mountain. From a rainfall point of view Avaunt Pond is a relatively common site; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is February. All through the warmest time of the year highs here at Avaunt Pond get into the 70's, and the night is rather cooler of course, frequently in the 50's.
