Do explore Pickerel Lake near Alger Lake, it's a charming lake, and if you need a spot to stay Econo Lodge Lakeshore is a fine choice. Camping is available at Stanley Lake Campground; nearby you stumble on the Lakeshore Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Alger Lake is a good site of normal rain; September is the wettest month with most rain while February is typically the driest month.
