There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Sandy River - South Branch, and if you come at the right time of year, Sandy River offers some delightful whitewater. The amount of rain that falls at Witham Pond is close to the national average; through August this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you need a place       to stay The Perennial Inn is a great choice, and the skiing at Saddleback is tremendous. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Piazza Rock Trail, and Black Mountain is a good local ski area. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool stuff the White Mountains has to offer. Looking for something near Witham Pond? Swift River Pond is nearby, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Witham Pond; Chimney Trail is a great local                  trail. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The White Mountains is so good! The Blue Mountains towers over Witham Pond.
