Here at Whidden Ponds there are plenty of people from Bangor, and going for a hike along the Chimney Pond Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. If you need a location to stay Katahdin Inn is a tremendous choice, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along  
   the South Branch Trail. Whidden Ponds gets a normal amount of yearly rain; most of the rain falls throughout July; the driest month is February.
A pleasant site to camp here at Whidden Ponds is Chimney Pond Campground, and obviously, this is a great area for folks who like lakes, Pamola Pond is a lake close at hand. This lake is so wonderful. Whidden Ponds is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Roaring Brook Campground is a magnificent local campground,
 
               and there's whitewater on Nesowadnehunk Stream River for all you adrenaline kick people. While you're here at Whidden Ponds you can take a hike along the Dudley Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Sandy Stream.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Sandy Stream Pond is in the vicinity of Whidden Ponds, and the summit of South Turner Mountain can be observed from Whidden Ponds. For the period of the days of summer at Whidden Ponds temperatures are usually in the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Whidden Ponds dipping down into the-10's throughout winter nights. This lake is so wonderful.
