    A visit to Whidden Ponds is always a good idea. Hiking along the Dudley Trail is tremendous fun, and Sandy Stream has a fine whitewater paddling spot close by. For the duration of the warm days of summer here at Whidden Ponds, high temperatures usually reach the 70's while night lows are frequently in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Whidden Ponds drop into the-10's. Whidden Ponds  
   gets a typical amount of yearly precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February.
Why not take a refreshing hike along the South Branch Trail, and during your tour here you'll meet some folks from Bangor for sure. This lake is so wonderful. Whidden Ponds is right by the Chimney Pond Trail, and South Turner Mountain is clearly visible from Whidden Ponds.
Paddling on Nesowadnehunk Stream River is so much
 
               fun, and Chimney Pond Campground is a great local campground. All the outdoors cool stuff close to Whidden Ponds will keep you coming back many times. Katahdin Inn is a good location to get some rest, and if you came for an overnight stay Roaring Brook Campground is a great site to camp.
