As you approach the pond from the South on Rt. 160, you are met by a breathtaking view of Mt. Washington which is 40 miles away. The water in west pond is crystal clear, and you can often hear the loons. There is a large area around the pond that is protected in tree growth, so the pond will never face additional stress of building. There is also no public access for boats, and that keeps it quiet and free of the kind of noise and congestion you see in popular lakes elsewhere. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to West Pond with nighttime lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to West Pond. West Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and       the driest of the months is September. You definitely must go for West Pond. A lovely lake like Long Pond next to West Pond is a good place to pop by, and West Pond is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, River Run Canoe Rental and Camping is a brilliant local campground. Whitewater paddling is nice on Little Ossipee River. There's so much to do here at West Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Windsong Campgrounds is a good spot for that.                  From West Pond you obtain a splendid vista of Bickford Hill; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Ossipee River. This lake is so wonderful. You'll locate a charming lake called Spruce Pond near West Pond; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby King Pine.
