A lake close by is Joe Pond; Ward Pond is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Whisperwood Lodge & Cottages is a pleasant local campground. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Ward Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Great Pond Campground is a pleasant site for that, and perfect       hiking is available along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Summer at Ward Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Ward Pond dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Ward Pond is a site with many visitors from Augusta-Waterville, and if you need a spot to stay Comfort Inn Civic Center                  is a pleasant choice. A glorious vista of gorgeous Quaker Hill is available from Ward Pond, and Lily Bay is a nearby lake that you could go to. This spot is excellent, just look at all the amusing things to do near Ward Pond. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Eaton Mountain, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cobbosseecontee Stream.
