Vaughn Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; through November this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Any time is a good time at Vaughn Pond if you go for the outdoors. After a long day outdoors Best Western Senator Inn & Spa is a nice spot to spend a night or two; not far from Vaughn Pond you'll locate Kennebec River Reservoir which is a pretty lake. This       lake is so wonderful. Here at Vaughn Pond you'll in all probability meet some folks from Augusta-Waterville, and don't forget to take a great little trip to Vaughn Brook. Americas Best Inns-Augusta is a fine location to get some rest; if you're a golfer then a good close by course is Kennebec Heights Country Club. The sight of Howard Hill from Vaughn Pond is stunning, and if you came for an overnight stay Augusta/Gardiner KOA is a good location to camp.                  This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; while you're here why not take a look at Britts Shoal. High temperatures at Vaughn Pond throughout the summertime months are in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; overnight lows at Vaughn Pond during the wintertime frequently sink into the 0's. Why not go to Shepard Point also since you're here, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Cobbosseecontee Stream.
