Shin Pond Village Campground is a splendid local campground; do visit Lower Shin Pond, it's a striking lake. Just can't get enough of Upper Shin Pond. Bowlin Camps Outfitters is a good campground nearby; a striking lake like Ackley Pond is a fine site to go to. Allen Hill is a peak you can distinguish from Upper Shin Pond,       and you can go for a hike on the American Thread Company Road. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side visit to Shin Brook; if you come at the right time of year, Shin Brook River offers some good whitewater. There's brilliant hiking along the Jerry Pond Tote Road, and there are some great whitewater spots on Seboeis River. This lake is so wonderful. At Upper Shin Pond all through the summer highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. All                  through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and night lows through the winter for Upper Shin Pond tend to be in the-10's.
