From a precipitation point of view Upper Pond is a quite common site; most of the rain falls through August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Whitewater paddling is great on Big Brook River; you don’t have to go far from Upper Pond to see the water at Perch Pond Dam. Camping at Little Black Check Point is always a good experience, and there's great hiking along the Island Pond Trail.       This lake is so wonderful. You get a splendid vista of Black Mountain from Upper Pond, and the Round Trail offers hiking at its best. For the period of the summertime at Upper Pond highs are usually in the 70's; the overnight is quite cooler of course, generally in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 10's; through the dark hours in the winter at Upper Pond temperatures plunge to the-10's. Upper Pond is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Pelletier's                  Campground is a perfect local campground, and Fish River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. All the outdoors entertaining stuff near Upper Pond will keep you coming back repeatedly.
