On a nice day at Upper Allen Pond you can take a hike along the Lead Mountain Trail, and a wonderful close by hotel is White Birches Country Club. Upper Allen Pond is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a great deal of rainfall; November is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. Upper Allen Pond is a magnificent location to visit for more than one day, Cold Spring       Campground is a magnificent location to camp nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Union River - East Branch offers some good whitewater. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If the weather is good here at Upper Allen Pond, you can go for a hike along the Eagle Lake Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Narraguagus River. At Upper Allen Pond throughout the warm months highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down                  to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Upper Allen Pond. This lake is so wonderful.
