A great place to camp here at Thomas Pond is Kingsley Pines Camp, and there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Saco River. At Thomas Pond throughout the summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Thomas Pond dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. | | check out during your stay, and a glorious nearby hotel is Portland/Westbrook Super 8 Motel. The high level of rainfall makes Thomas Pond a reasonably wet site; November is when you get the most rain here, and September is the month with the least moisture. Everybody close by loves skiing at Shawnee Peak, and if you need a place to stay The Elms Bed and Breakfast is a delightful choice. Thomas Pond has to offer. This lake is so wonderful. You can take a little trip to Thomas Pond Dam since you're here at Thomas Pond, and Burnell Cove is nearby and always tremendous to explore. This lake is so wonderful. At Thomas
Pond you can see Brown Hill, and camping at Camp Samoset II is always a great experience. Thomas Pond in fact is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. This is a popular spot for folks from Portland-South Portland; you'll
stumble on a pretty lake called Nubble Pond. Golf can be played at Frye Island Town Golf Course, and do check out Coffee Pond, it's a gorgeous lake. Gotta ski! Lost Valley is a tremendous place to do that, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Crooked River.

 | This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air.... |
Crooked River
 | My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage.... |

Also, a strong WiFi signal was nice for a change and cable TV with 70 channels at our level site. Highly recommend if staying for a week, month or the season. Plenty to do in the area.... |
