Katahdin Inn is a fine spot to get some rest. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! Third Lake is great! In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Munsungan Stream, and       you can stay the night at Matagamon Wilderness Campground. South Branch Pond Campground is a wonderful campground nearby, and there are great locations to discover along the Freezeout Road. This lake is so wonderful. Webster Brook is a delightful whitewater spot in the vicinity of Third Lake; going for a hike on the Eagle Lake Tote Road is always a splendid adventure. Summertime highs at Third Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools                  down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Third Lake are in the-10's. A lake close by is Upper Moose Pond; don't leave Third Lake without first going for a hike along the Old Telos Tote Road.
