     Dead River - South Branch has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby; not far from Third Greely Pond you'll hit upon Greely Pond which is a charming lake. A round of golf at nearby Evergreen Golf Club & Golf School is a magnificent way to kill some time, and in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dead River - South Branch. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Piazza Rock Trail; if  
   you came for an overnight stay Black Brook Cove Campground is a good location to camp. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Third Greely Pond; Bemis Trail is a splendid local trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Roland Pond.
From a precipitation point of view Third Greely Pond is a reasonably typical place; during August this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Why not take a
 
               refreshing hike along the Milrose Trail, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Saddleback if you're here. This lake is so wonderful.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Third Greely Pond. You can never get enough of the great skiing at Black Mountain, and North Camps is a great campground nearby. High temperatures at Third Greely Pond during the days of summer are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Third Greely Pond are in the-10's.

Today I finished a kayak trip from Strong, Maine and took out at Osoola Park in Norridgewock. It took a day and three quarters. The bridge in New Sharon is by far  the largest waves just under the bridge. Tired arms went through that at the near end of day. The water after that is fast for about an hour after that. Need to pay attention....

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
