It's always fun to stop by Taylor Pond. What would winter be without some skiing at Titcomb, and since you're here, you could stop at Hopkins Stream. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a delightful spot to spend a night or two; you can stay the night at Camp Laurel. So many exciting things to do here at Taylor Pond, too perfect to be true. Cranberry Pond is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and fine hiking is available along the Appalachian National

| | Scenic Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Taylor Pond is a place with many visitors from Augusta-Waterville. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Sandy River, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can check out Taylor Pond Dam. This lake is so wonderful. There are some nice whitewater spots on Wilson Stream, and a good close by hotel is Winthrop Motel. During the summer at Taylor Pond highs are ordinarily in the 70's with nighttime lows in | |

the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are usually in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Taylor Pond during the winter ordinarily fall into the 0's. Taylor Pond is a wet place that gets a lot of rain; the wettest month of the year
is frequently November, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. While you're here at Taylor Pond, you could also stop at pretty Desert Pond, and Five Seasons Campground is a perfect campground nearby.

Eaton Mountain
 | 25 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
