Going for a hike along the Bald Mountain       Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and you can stay the night at Greenwood Acres Campground. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Stillwater River Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Pushaw Lake Campground, and the trees of University Forest are a glorious source of shade on hot summer days. Stillwater River Reservoir is near Orono Dam which is a scenic location definitely worth a visit, and                  Stillwater River Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could pop by. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid nearby hotel is University Inn Academic Suites; Penobscot River is a delightful whitewater spot nearby. The high level of rainfall makes Stillwater River Reservoir a quite wet spot; November is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. After a long day outdoors Best Western Black Bear Inn & Conference Center is a nice location to spend a night or two; playing golf is lots of fun at Hidden Meadows Golf Course. Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 70's at Stillwater River Reservoir. All through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Stillwater River Reservoir temperatures fall to the 0's. Hiking along the Old Gold Mine Trail is glorious fun; there are plenty of folks from Bangor here.
