Have a great hiking adventure along the Eagle Lake Trail, and on a splendid day it's a good idea to spend the day at Echo Lake Beach. Lots of rain falls at Somes Pond; through November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is August. Through the warm days of summer highs here at Somes Pond reach the 70's; the nighttime is somewhat colder of course, mostly in the 50's.       For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Somes Pond tend to be in the 10's. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a splendid time here at Somes Pond. While you're here at Somes Pond you can take a hike along the Beech Cliff Loop; Myrtle Ledge is another great place to pop by nearby. The vistas at Acadia National Park will blow your mind, and Duck Rock is a pleasant place to stop at while in                  the neighborhood. Going for a hike along the Beech Cliff Ladder Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and if you come at the right time of year, Union River offers some splendid whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Open Hearth Inn is a pleasant site to spend a night or two, and Somes Pond is a pleasant spot to visit for more than one day, Smuggler's Den Campground is a pleasant spot to camp nearby. Denning Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit, and Mount Desert Campground is a tremendous local campground. Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Somes Pond. The peak of Carter Nubble can be seen from Somes Pond, and there are some perfect whitewater spots on Branch Lake Stream. Somes Pond Outlet Dam is worth visiting if you're here, and a glorious close by hotel is Isleview Motel and Cottages.
