A lot of rain falls at Snail Pond; November is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent place to camp here at Snail Pond is Maple Grove Campground; the Eagle Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do near Snail Pond. Not far from Snail Pond, you'll hit       upon Middle Oxhead Pond which is a pretty lake; after a long day outdoors White Birches Country Club is a perfect place to spend a night or two. Camping at Cold Spring Campground is always a magnificent experience, and if you come at the right time of year, Passadumkeag River offers some great whitewater. Summertime highs at Snail Pond usually tend to be in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. During the winter                  highs are in the 20's, and night lows at Snail Pond throughout the winter typically fall into the 0's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Nicatous Stream, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Lead Mountain Trail.
