Hiking is a popular thing to do around Snail Pond; Lead Mountain Trail is a nice local trail, and you can stay the night at Cold Spring Campground. Upper Oxhead Pond is a nearby lake that you could go to, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Passadumkeag River. This lake is so wonderful. The sight of Buffalo Hill from Snail Pond is stunning; if you come at the right time of year, Nicatous Stream offers some brilliant whitewater.       The Peaked Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. At Snail Pond through the summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; night lows all through the wintertime for Snail Pond tend to be in the 0's. So much amusing stuff close to Snail Pond, truly remarkable.
