You can run the rapids of Cold Stream in the vicinity of Smith Pond, and you'll find a beautiful lake called Little Lang Pond. The warmest time of the year at Smith Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's,  
   and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Smith Pond temperatures descend to the-10's. From a rainfall point of view Smith Pond is a relatively normal place; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
Lang Stream is a wonderful stream that is worth a visit, and hiking along the Alder Brook Trail is tremendous fun. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things at Smith
 
               Pond. You get a brilliant sight of Williams Mountain from Smith Pond, and going for a hike along the Bald Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful.
This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent site for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Smith Pond is Kennebec River; you can have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Sally Mountain Trail. After a long day outdoors Bingham Motor Inn is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and a brilliant place to camp here at Smith Pond is Woody's Campground and Cottages.
